Current Positions
Working with children can be very rewarding and an enjoyable experience, here at our centre we have many vulnerable children and young adults who need a safe, quiet environment with people that care, understand and can offer help and support when they need it.
As a charity we are always looking for volunteers to help out during our activities day, or if you have skills that you can share and lead activity days, we would love to hear from you.
Any volunteer and paid vacancies required will be advertised here from now on, so stay tuned.
Social Media Specialist
Part time Volunteer position x 1, onsite and remote work
We have recently lost one of our main trustees who setup and managed all our online presence. This is an essential role as we 100% depend on social media to stay in touch with our members and post service updates to Facebook which sync to our website.
We also use social media to engage with the community of Buckingham and the surrounding areas aswell as drum up support for donations, volunteer roles, and take bookings for our activity clubs. Having a knowledge of local pages and groups to share our posts and events will also be especially important to ensure we can reach as many people as possible.
You will need to have a good knowledge of managing Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube aswell as setting up ad campaigns. Although knowledge of IT is a given, it is essential that you listen to instructions and update our pages with the correct information in a timely fashion. Having good written English is also essential. We are looking for someone who can commit to this role long term to ensure consistency so this may not be suitable for students.
Part of this role will be about creating content for facebook and twitter using our graphics packages we have curated over the years. We also need someone to take high quality photos we can use for facebook and Instagram as stories or posts to the appropriate hashtags. This role will evolve so we need someone willing to be adaptable and able to think on their feet and take own initiative to keep our pages relevant and upto date.

Receptionist/PA to director
Part time Volunteer position x1, onsite and remote work
This will be a part time volunteer position (hours to suit) which may lead to a paid employment.
We have recently lost one of our main trustees who covered a lot of this role aswell as the maintenance of our IT systems so this is an essential role for us to fill asap.
As a receptionist you will have a big part in helping our charity function, you will be the first point of contact and you will provide a variety of admin support. You will be working closely with the director and trustees who will rely on your ability to get things done in a timely manner. You will handle bookings and ensure messages and private and confidential information is recorded correctly. You will ensure all receptionist responsibilities are completed accurately and delivered to a high quality. You will be given the chance to gain valuable experience and qualifications with a very well recognised charity, previous volunteers have gone onto successful careers.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome visitors and families, offering drinks and friendly chat when appropriate.
- Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone called while providing information when needed.
- Check our social media pages and answer any messages along with posting occasional service updates to Facebook as per directors’ request
- Check and manage our main email regularly aswell as help the director answer any urgent messages and answer general questions for new or existing clients.
- Receive and sort mail/deliveries
- Maintain security by following procedures and controlling access (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges) further training will be provided
- Update appointment calendars and schedule meetings/appointments
- Perform other clerical duties suchas filing, photocopying, collating, changing printer ink and occasionally note taking for director
Requirements
- Must be proficient with office 365 and windows 10
- Ability to problem solve and suggest improvements if needed
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to follow instructions
- Enthusiasm and commitment to our charity
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive dealing with issues that arise
- Ability to organise, multitask and prioritise work under pressure
- Want to learn and have awareness of autism, learning and physical disabilities

Learning support Assistants
Part time Volunteer position x 3
We are looking to provide work experience to anyone interested in becoming an LSA or a teacher as you will gain valuable experience with children and young people who have a variety of special needs. To fill this post you must be caring, patient and have a keen interest in working in the field of special needs.
Knowledge is desirable but full training will be given.

Gardeners
Part time Volunteer position x 10
Thanks to the hard work of our current volunteers, we have dug over and replanted our organic borders with flowers and a range of vegetables we grow for the use of our cookery sessions during the year to make meals for disadvantaged families and young people. We are now looking to restart our garden club and new therapeutic greenhouse project to encourage young people to come outside and enjoy our outside space. To do this we need as many volunteers as possible.
We are currently looking for willing volunteers to come down weekly to help maintain and water our garden and ensure the courtyard and greenhouse stays clean, tidy, and safe.
There are no requirements for this role and would be a great position for young or old, abled, or disabled. As long as you are reliable and enjoy gardening and don’t mind getting your hands dirty.

IMPORTANT
If you are interested in one of our positions, either voluntary or an employed position, as you would expect working with vulnerable children and adults, certain formalities must be taken to ensure the safety of everyone attending our centre. We require members to have an enhanced DBS check, first aid and safe guarding training, all of which we will arrange and pay for if you decided to volunteer with is for more than 6 months.
It is essential that all session leaders and volunteers have/want experience in working with young people and have the commitment to ensure that clubs, sessions and events are able to run as scheduled for the benefit of the young people and families attending Clearly Speaking.
While many of the session leader and volunteer positions do not require formal qualifications, training will be provided where necessary to ensure that leaders and volunteers are supported and assisted to provide the best quality service to everyone coming to Clearly Speaking.
